This position will help the organization with the goal to become North America’s leading smart port, leveraging technology and building relationships in order to drive insights that result in greater gateway operational reliability and enable better utilization of the gateway trade and transportation network.** **This position is responsibility for providing leadership in managing and advancing the Port’s supply chain performance monitoring and measurement programs. Central to this role is overseeing the development and maintenance of a stable of analytical tools that leverage complex data feeds and innovative digital technologies to provide historic insight, real time visibility and predictive analytics that will inform operations decisions and planning. The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is evolving its business processes to leverage data and digital technologies to become an “Insight Driven” Gateway. The Manager, Supply Chain Performance plays a critical role in this evolution.

The Manager, Supply Chain Performance will be responsible for:
Supply Chain Performance
- Develop and sustain VFPA’s supply chain performance monitoring and measurement programs, which include undertaking data acquisition, identifying long-term performance measurement strategies, assessing the challenges facing VFPA, and determining opportunities for improvement and solutions in the Port and Vancouver Gateway’s competitive performance.
- Work closely with Industry partners on the development of analytic tools that support operational planning and decision making, designed to increase transparency into supply chain performance and improve operating efficiencies on cargo moving through the Port.
- Manage a team that generates critical analytics on a timely basis to be distributed to internal and external Gateway stakeholders.
- Manage integration of supply chain monitoring and measurement processes and products with department and port strategic initiatives, including quantitative, spatial, and graphic analytics.
- Represent VFPA on regional and national Performance forums, committees and meetings on matters pertaining to the Port and Vancouver Gateway.

Project Delivery
- Identify, scope and initiate strategic projects that will further the mandate of Supply Chain Optimization.
- Provide leadership and management to ensure department projects are delivered on time and on budget.
- Manage external service providers, contractors and consultants in providing products, services and support to departmental projects

Leadership and Management
- Participate in the development of departmental plans and be responsible for the development and implementation of activities and programs designed to meet the intention of specific strategic priorities.
- Participate as a member of various management and inter-departmental teams in the planning, implementation and management of business initiatives.
- Plan, implement and review departmental staffing requirements for areas of responsibility, including the determination of clear position descriptions, accountabilities and reporting arrangements to optimize service delivery to all stakeholders. Liaise with Human Resources to ensure the effective selection, training and performance management of staff.
- Promote the VFPA’s health and safety program by demonstrating health and safety leadership through actions, participation in health and safety initiatives and regular safety conversations with employees.
- Manage subordinates, ensuring that team and individuals are motivated, have defined position descriptions and reporting arrangements, their performance goals are clear and actively managed and development needs are defined and addressed.
- Represent VFPA in negotiations, at conferences and conventions, and in the media as required, ensuring clear communication of the business strategy and key messages, and the presentation of a positive and professional image of the business.
