This opportunity offers a unique chance to engage with a fun, highly talented team, providing that - "something different" to fulfill your ambitions and stimulate your intellect. - ABOUT THE ROLE - This role will assist the Transmission Planning and Grid Innovations Manager in conducting comprehensive transmission - planning and operational studies across the WECC footprint, including B.C. Hydro and the Pacific Northwest. The role - demands a deep understanding of transmission limits, grid planning, and data analytics, focusing on short-term and long term strategies. Your work will be crucial in assessing transmission risks, identifying opportunities, and developing solutions - that enhance Powerex’ s market position. - What You Will Do- Conduct and analyze power system analysis and modeling to support regional and inter-regional transmission planning and operational stability assessments.- Proactively identify transmission access issues and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop effective solutions.- Maintain and develop expertise in regional and national policy issues, transmission constraints, and market operations.- Develop automation Python codes for the planning studies. - Conduct data analysis and visualization. - Engage in the continuous learning of new technologies and grid innovations, sharing knowledge and teaching others within the team. - QUALFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE- PhD in Electrical Engineering or MSc in Electrical Engineering with 4 years of experience in a relative field. - Strong knowledge in power system analysis, transmission operational planning studies, or real-time operations. - Proficient in advanced computing and software skills, with a preference for experience in Python. - Demonstrated ability to perform detailed power flow studies and familiarity with NERC/WECC Planning Standards. - Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong desire to take on new challenges. - Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain perspective on the bigger picture. - Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills and a great appetite for learning. ABOUT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION- Occasional travel to the U.S. may be required for industry forums and meetings. - Flexibility to work outside of standard hours to meet critical deadlines. DURATION & LOCATION - This is a full-time, permanent role. The role is hybrid with at least 4 days in office.
