**Position Overview**:
Ramara Township Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Library Clerk to join our team. Reporting to the CEO, this role involves circulation duties, reader’s advisory and reference services while delivering exceptional customer service. The Library Clerk works with a variety of technology including, but not limited to, printers, scanners, tablets, cameras, and computers while also instructing the public with technology needs. The Library Clerk ensures the collection is well organized, maintained processing new and donated material while weeding, as directed, the current collection. On top of being digitally savvy and organized, the Library Clerk creates elaborate and detailed displays, newsletters, and assists with child and youth programming for the eServices & Children’s Librarian. Includes other special projects as assigned/delegated by the CEO.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Effectively communicate with diverse audiences, including children, teens, caregivers, staff, and the public through written, verbal, and digital communication.
Ensure clear and accurate dissemination of information via newsletters and signage.
- Work collaboratively with internal library teams to enhance children’s and youth programming and services.
Assist with the design, develop, and implement in-house, virtual, and outreach programs for children and youth, ensuring that programs are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with community needs.Maintain a high standard of integrity by safeguarding confidential information, adhering to library policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Handles financial transactions from the public and fundraising activities.
- Assist with collection development and maintenance, such as shelving, shelfreading, organizing, and processing materials.
- Assist with technological support by providing training and troubleshooting to patrons and staff on library systems, digital resources, and other technologies.
**Qualifications**:
- Library and Information Technician Diploma an asset
- Post-secondary education or EXCEL Certification Diploma (Province of Ontario) required
- First Aid and CPR required
- Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) is an asset
**Experience**:
- Minimum of 1-year professional library experience, with a focus on children and youth programming is an asset.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge and experience with using and teaching with technology.
- Experience with ILS systems, Microsoft Office, and promotional design using Canva and Library Aware.
- Experience in customer service including reader’s advisory and reference services.
**Job Type**: Part-time
Pay: $22.75-$26.60 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 23 per week
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Morning shift
- On call
- Overtime
- Weekends as needed
Work Location: In person
