Reporting to the Manager of Recruitment Services, the Aboriginal Student Recruitment Officer represents and promotes CNC and its programs, services, awards and financial aid, specifically as this pertains to the specialized needs of Aboriginal students. The Aboriginal Student Recruitment Officer is a member of a highly motivated, professional regional recruitment team that is involved in recruitment planning, strategic development, and the implementation of approved activities in order to contribute to CNC’s enrolment goals

- You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the brand promise and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of Aboriginal learners and communities.
- You will promote a positive work atmosphere and communicate in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students, colleagues and key stakeholders.

Specific Duties

This position is responsible for supporting student recruitment activities from enquiry to acceptance into the College. Various recruitment methods will be utilized including: face-to-face presentations, digital communications, tours, database management, marketing and communications planning and other strategic enrollment management initiatives. As the critical link in establishing access for Aboriginal students to educational opportunities and student supports at CNC, the Aboriginal Students Recruitment Officer: will develop relationships with prospective Aboriginal students, care givers and Aboriginal communities to assist students in reaching their academic and career goals.

**Business Plan**
- Participates in the development of an annual recruitment plan that sets out to accomplish the goals established in the College Strategic Plan, SEM Plan, and the goals established in the College Aboriginal Education Plan.
- Writes reports to identify trends, accomplishments, lessons learned and to make recommendations on future recruitment activities.
- Prepares annual comparative analysis reports.

**Recruitment Initiatives**
- Inspires and motivates prospective Aboriginal students to become qualified and enrolled at CNC by promoting the College’s academic programs and services through a variety of platforms including: face-to-face appointments, secondary school visits, campus tours, college and community events, as well as First Nations’ and Aboriginal community visits.
- Works closely with College staff, faculty, and administrators to assist applicants in becoming qualified and enrolled at CNC.
- Be aware of and work collaboratively with other recruiters, student affairs staff and academic team members to meet institutional enrolment targets and objectives.
- Delivers recruitment presentations in a variety of settings, utilizing a variety of tools and publications, to a range of audience sizes (from individual to small, medium and large groups).
- Coordinate CNC faculty classroom visits to secondary schools.
- Participate in the Student Ambassador program including training and performance evaluation.
- Represent the college at external community and education events such as career days, Student for a Day, education seminars, and secondary school parent advisory groups.
- Coordinates and attends all secondary school visits, supporting Recruiters and Aboriginal Liaisons in the region.
- Travels with the Post-Secondary Institutions of British Columbia (PSIBC) representatives annually.
- Travels on the Strengthening Connections BC recruitment tour annually.
- Provides prospective Aboriginal students with information on skills requirements and make recommendations for appropriate assessment, career exploration, and possible job visitations.
- Coordinates recruitment activities with employment and transition agencies and other organizations throughout the community.
- Participates in SEM committee work as assigned.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

**Research and Analysis**
- Develops and maintains a system to measure and evaluate conversion and recruitment activities, individually and as part of a larger regional recruitment team.
- Monitors changes to competitors’ programs and promotional materials to ensure competitiveness of college programs.
- Stays abreast of current market trends in the post-secondary sector and applies them to the Northern BC and Aboriginal audience, where applicable.

**Marketing and Communication**
- Assists in the production of marketing and promotions materials.
- Plays an active role in the development of recruitment publications and resources, specifically for Aboriginal students.
- Creates and maintains contact lists with secondary school counselors and teachers, First Nations Bands and Aboriginal Liaisons.
- Assists in developing marketing plans and initiatives regarding student recruitment for different programm
