Compensation Range

Job Summary
The University of British Columbia (UBC) is seeking an innovative, forward-thinking and strategic Director of Enterprise Automation and Solution Delivery. This pivotal leadership role is essential for envisioning and delivering advanced solutions that align with UBC's institutional objectives. Overseeing the seamless integration of systems and driving continuous enhancement of enterprise platforms, the Director will manage a diverse portfolio of platforms and automation technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotic Process Automation, Business Process Management Systems, and Salesforce Platform. Additionally, leading the Project Management Office Delivery team within the Office of the CIO, the Director ensures the successful execution of strategic and transformative IT projects that align with broader institutional goals.
The Director provides overall strategic leadership, vision, strategies plans, goals and technical expertise to senior technology staff and managers engaged in the planning, implementation and management of multiple large and complex information systems all in alignment with the CIO's vision within the Enterprise Automation and Solution Delivery portfolio.
Maintaining strategic alignment with academic and administrative stakeholders across the university, the Director ensures that digital and automation solutions effectively address and resolve institutional challenges.
Furthermore, fostering a diverse and collaborative workplace culture is a key responsibility. The Director will champion UBC IT as an inclusive and excellent place to work, promoting a respectful workplace, building cohesive teams, mentoring staff, and establishing effective career and succession planning processes
Organizational Status
Reports directly to the Associate Vice President, Information Technology and CIO (referred to as CIO hereafter). Actively participates as a collaborative member of the UBC IT Senior Leadership Team. Participates on UBC committees as directed by the CIO. Works collaboratively with management and staff from all sections of UBC IT and the broader UBC team. Maintains a network of contacts with higher-education institutions as well as with organizations with large information technology operations with respect to activities within the area of responsibilities and the broader higher education academic and research context.
Work Performed
Strategic Leadership:
- Leads the translation of the information technology vision and strategic direction for their portfolio and oversees the development of function specific strategies, tactical plans and initiatives.
- Leads the implementation of the digital strategy defined by the CIO for their portfolio, focusing on initiatives related to digital transformation, enterprise platforms and automation.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Oversees and ensures that all human resource practices and processes/administration are complied with and develops leadership strength in functional areas by coaching reporting leaders and staff in the development of critical competencies and by modeling valued leadership behaviors to create an engaging/respectful people environment and by modeling valued leadership behaviors
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within teams and across departments.
