Dairy Herdsman

Rock Ridge Dairy is Alberta’s largest goat milk processing facility, located in rural Ponoka, Alberta. We are dedicated to producing high-quality goat and organic cow milk products while fostering a responsible and mature workforce.
**Summary**

We are looking for a Full time Herdsman for our farming operation. This role is crucial in supporting production and ensuring the well-being of our livestock, contributing directly to our mission of quality dairy production.
**Responsibilities**
- Milking and Assisting with daily herding tasks and livestock management
- Ensure the health and safety of animals
- Hoof triming
- Pen cleaning and bedding
- Operate farm machinery as required
- Perform heavy lifting tasks related to animal care
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the farm environment
- Collaborate with team members to enhance operational efficiency
- Learn and take on lead responsibilities over time
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures
- Create breeding programs and manage birthing and babies

**Qualifications**
- Experience milking animals and with herd management
- Reliability
- Strong mechanical knowledge relevant to farm operations
- Ability to perform heavy lifting consistently
- Experience operating farm machinery is preferred
- A responsible attitude towards animal care and farm management
- Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities over time
- Good communication skills for teamwork
- Construction experience is an asset.

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 - 44 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

**Experience**:

- Milking: 2 years (required)
