Production Supervisor

As the Production Supervisor, you will report to the Production Manager and indirectly to the Plant Manager or Alternate. Under limited supervision, the Production Supervisor is responsible for all manufacturing activities required to safely, efficiently and effectively meet production schedules while achieving adherence to performance standards, yield, labour, Food Safety, customer service levels and quality standards. Responsible for preparation, execution and on-time delivery of budgeted business plan results. Directly manage Line supervisors on shift and the associated employees.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Supervise all aspects of production, ensuring appropriate Health and Safety controls and Good Manufacturing Practices
- Manage efficiencies, monitor quality and minimize production costs
- Troubleshoot problems and pro-actively prevent or minimize issues
- Provide timely coaching, feedback and support to team leaders and production workers in a constructive and respectful manner
- Train, coach, develop and evaluate performance of production staff
- Liaise extensively on the production floor in order to build commitment and foster open communication between all parties
- Supervise and train crews, including planning manpower and work organization, managing absenteeism and conflict.
- Administer appropriate coaching, providing leadership guidance and continually develop employees in accordance with the needs of the department.
- Implement a continuous improvement philosophy in all areas of operation.
- Participate in JHSC initiatives and follow established policies as outlined in the Health and Safety policies.
- Supports the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all Quality Systems.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
**REQUIRED SKILL, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Proven leadership, team building and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, co-workers and Managers.
- Strong verbal and written as well as effective communication skills to lead, motivate, coach, mentor and resolve employee conflict.
- Ability to accurately maintain detailed records.
- Strong safety focus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Have 3+ years leadership or Supervisory experience.
- Be able to work independently, as well as being a strong team player with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Possession of Diploma or post-secondary education
- Reasonable mechanical aptitude
- Intermediate Computer Skills in Microsoft Office (such as word, excel, outlook, charting and graphing).
- Ability to assess and prioritize
- Ability to manage change and to react quickly to rapid turn-around requirements
- Desire for continuous improvement individually and for the overall business
