THE ROLE
Reporting to leadership of the Strategic Initiatives Delivery team, the Project Control Officer (6-month Contract) will work closely with Project Managers, Portfolio Managers, and Program/Portfolio Directors to plan, execute on, and control each phase of the projects under your portfolio. You will collaborate and build relationships with a wide array of stakeholders from across the organization to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
In this high-exposure contract role, you will continuously learn from the senior leaders you work with and will grow professionally with each project you complete.
This role is based in downtown Toronto under a hybrid work policy, allowing employees the flexibility to work remotely and in-office (approximately two days per week in-office).
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
In partnership with PMs and UPP leaders, the PCO will work closely with a diverse group of stakeholders to create and execute on project plans that meet departmental needs and achieve business goals. They will be challenged to think critically about how we approach project management and will be encouraged to drive continuous process improvement. In this capacity, they will:
- Deliver status reports, data-driven insights, meeting materials, and action items to teams across
- Build and nurture relationships with internal team members
- Analyze project trends, identifying and acting on areas for improvement
- Champion and execute project management best practices
- Reflect upon the closing process, ensuring artifacts are made available for lessons learned and future templates
- Generate, update, and analyze financial plans including monthly rolling forecasts, latest estimates, baselines, and working versions
- Keep an up-to-date record of key project artifacts like opportunity evaluations, business cases, project charters, baseline plans, and change requests
- Capture and summarize project data to create portfolio level reports
- Collaborate with Senior Project Managers to address risks and establish processes to mitigate the
- Generate, update, and analyze financial plans including monthly rolling forecasts, latest estimates, baselines, and working versions
- Support the development of project proposal, charters, plans, schedules, resource plans, business plans, and performance metrics
- Accommodate the needs of clients and stakeholders appropriately and efficiently
- Collaborate with Senior Project Managers to address risks and establish processes to mitigate them
- Clearly and promptly communicate project details and updates to the appropriate teams, stakeholders, and oversight bodies;
- Support regular reporting to UPP’s Strategic Initiative’s Management Committee and other leadership forums as required.
**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**:
- Undergraduate degree in preferably in business, management, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise-level projects across a large portfolio or program.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment and execute while maintaining momentum and fluidity
- Solid understanding of project management best practices, techniques, and tools
- Outcome-focused self-starter willing to do what it takes to achieve business goals and meet client needs.
- Comfortable owning projects across the lifecycle and are excellent at controlling and reporting on multi-faceted initiatives.
