Out to Play is hiring a couple of casual/substitute Outdoor Educators and Support Staff.

**About Out to Play**

Out to Play offers an Independent School, a summer daycamp program, 1:1 Forest and Nature School experiences, Family programs and Open Pay-What-You-Can Drop-In programs onsite at the Out to Play Environmental Centre and at urban wild spaces across the city.

Out to Play’s Forest and Nature School pedagogy is defined as child-centred, inquiry-driven, interest-led, educator-supported learning and connecting through play on the land. At Out to Play children spend most of every day outside and on the land, through all the seasons and through all the weather. This wholly outdoors, child-centred and play-based approach is unique and as such, Out to Play is also a demonstration site for childcare centres, colleges and universities.

**Description of roles**

Working in pairs, educators support children through the rhythm of the day from opening circle, through the hike to holding space imaginative and creative play. Do you love to play outside? Watch children climb a tree? Gather creek water to see all its creatures? Build a ship out of tires and lumber? This is joyful and hard work

The days run 8:15-3:30 and include communication with daily risk-benefit assessments, communication with parents, morning check-in meetings, and end of day tidy up and maintenance.

You'll be working with a team of incredible educators who care very much about the children and our community of families. We value integrity, hard-work, a commitment to reflection and learning, and having a laugh at the end of the day.

**Requirements include**:
A First Aid certification
A Vulnerable Sector Police Check
An interest working outdoors in all kinds of weather

The position is well-suited to students doing their ECE, Child Studies or Teaching degree, Child and Youth Worker training, Outdoor Educators and Recreational Therapists.

**Job Types**: Fixed term contract, Casual
Contract length: 8 weeks

Pay: $18.00-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 7.25 - 36 per week
