**Position Summary**:
We are looking for a Shop-hand/Mechanic’s Assistant to join our growing team The Shop-hand/Mechanic’s Assistant is a vital role within our shop working closely to support our Journeyman Mechanics.

This role plays an active part in the preventative maintenance of our trucking fleet, assisting with and performing basic repairs, maintaining vehicle records and supporting our positive shop environment.

**This is a highly physical position that will require working outdoors in all types of weather, the repeat use of hand and power tools and the ability to lift up to 50lbs or more.**

**This position is not eligible for apprenticeship hours.**

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Assist Journeyman Mechanics in the repair, replacement and reassembly of parts referring to service manuals as needed.
- Perform scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes as required.
- Safely operate and utilize basic hand tools such as hammers, pipe wrenches and impact tools as required.
- Handle and organize materials within the shop and outdoor yard as required.
- Pick up or receive various parts and materials from vendors. Source parts as required.
- Follow all shop and company safety rules and guidelines.
- Other related duties as required.

**Qualifications and Experience**
- Highschool Diploma or GED.
- First Year Automotive Apprenticeship or equivalent experience is an asset. This position is not eligible for apprenticeship hours.
- Fluent proficiency of the English language is required.
- CSTS 2020 and WHIMIS 2015 a strong asset.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as safety glasses, steel toed boots and earplugs daily.
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather.
- Minimum Class 5 driver's license with a clean drivers abstract required. Class 3 or Class 1 a strong asset.
- Trucking experience and/or knowledge of basic automotive parts a strong asset.
- A willingness to learn and a positive attitude.

**Salary**: From $21.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Edmonton, AB T6S 1B3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Mechanical knowledge: 1 year (preferred)
