**ABOUT THE POSITION**:
We are in search of two IT Speciliasts. **Please Note**: One position is available immediately, and the second position will be available as of May 1, 2025.

A career as an IT Specialist with Port Moody Police Department (PMPD), will give you the opportunity to contribute in providing our community with the policing services it needs.

**EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS**:

- Two-year diploma program in a related information technology discipline from a recognized post secondary educational institution.
- **Microsoft Certifications**: Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Fundamentals, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or the Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) are highly valued.
- **VMware Certifications**: Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV) are highly valued.
- **Other Relevant Certifications**: Certifications in general networking (CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA) or systems administration (Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administration Fundamentals).

**WORK EXPERIENCE**:

- Three to five years of directly of related IT experience, preferably in a police/public safety environment.
- In addition, you possess experience in the following areas:

- working with VMware products, particularly ESXi.
- Windows Server administration.
- System Administration: Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting server systems and virtual environments.
- IT service desk support, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- performing threat and risk assessments.

**TECHNICAL SKILLS**
- Windows Server OS: In-depth knowledge of various versions of Windows Server, including installation, configuration, and administration.
- Active Directory: Proficiency in managing Active Directory, including users, groups, and group policies.
- VMware ESXi and vSphere: In-depth knowledge of VMware ESXi, vCenter Server, and vSphere capabilities.
- Networking and Storage: Understanding of networking concepts, storage area networks (SAN), and virtual storage management.
- Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with monitoring tools for performance management and capacity planning (e.g., VMware vRealize Operations).
- Backup and Disaster Recovery: Knowledge of backup solutions for virtual environments and disaster recovery planning.
- Security Best Practices: Understanding of security measures and best practices for virtual machines and host servers.
- Scripting and Automation: Familiarity with scripting languages to automate tasks and improve efficiency.

**SOFT SKILLS**:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Effective communication skills to work with technical and non-technical teams.
- Willingness and ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of the position as well as the Department.
- Ability to work well under pressure and deal with stressful situations with professionalism, including exposure to graphic forensic content.
- Proficient in oral and written communications, in English.
- You are comfortable working in various work settings which include an open office environment.

**SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS**:

- You are comfortable attending off-site police scenes to assist with information technology requirements of our police members.
- You may be required to provide court testimony.
- Participation in a rotational on-call schedule.
