Housekeeping- Permanent Part Time Day

The Salvation Army Ottawa Grace Manor is a licensed long-term care facility built on care, dignity and respect for all. Ottawa Grace Manor has 5 Resident Home Areas with either 25 or 26 beds on each, for a total of 128 residents. The home area on the first floor (Gladstone) is a secure home area. Two home areas are on the second floor (Queen and Parkdale) and two home areas are on the third floor (Wellington and Rosemount). Each home area is self-contained with its own dining room, lounge area, nursing station, laundry room, and activity room.
**Responsibilities**:
Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Janitor performs general cleaning duties with the use of related equipment including a combination of sweeping, vacuuming, extracting, spot washing, waxing, stripping, damp mopping, emptying garbage/ recycling and dusting all areas that require care.
**Qualifications**:
- Grade 12 minimum, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience working in long term care or similar environment.
- 3 years of Janitorial experience
- Must know how to operate Banishers machine, Scrubber machine, Carpet Extractor, Steam equipment,
- Must have experience waxing and stripping floors
- Must have infection control cleaning experience, knowledge of chemicals, WHIMIS, Oxivir Plus, Virox, and Isolation procedures
- Ability to follow written and Oral instructions and Health and Safety regulations.
- Physically ability to carry out responsibilities
