**BFL CANADA is looking for a Claims Assistant for its Vancouver Office**
As a member of our Claims division, you will be responsible for helping to provide “best in class” claims advocacy for BFL’s clients and their Client Management teams.

**A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CLAIMS ASSISTANT**:
- Report new claims to appropriate insurance carriers, including creating electronic claims files in our broker management system, EPIC.
- Initiate follow ups with insurers to confirm receipt of claims, contact information for the claims examiner and/or adjuster, and file numbers.
- Communicate with insured client and client executive team to confirm reporting and ensure initial contact has been made by the adjuster/insurer.
- Confirm timely assignment of defense counsel when required.
- Maintain on-going communication with insurer/adjuster to obtain status updates and claims reserves/payments, as instructed by the Claims Advisor.
- Perform claims tasks as assigned by Claims Advisor.
- File information electronically in accordance with claims procedures.
- Maintain claims accounts with various electronic claims platforms with insurers.
- Prepare and circulate monthly claims meeting minutes.
- Update claims procedures, as required.
- Receive incoming mail and attach to appropriate file in EPIC.
- Prepare Loss Run/History for client executive teams as required.
- Prepare claims bordereaux as required for specific clients.
- Assist with preparation of claims presentations.
- Receive cheques and prepare correspondence to deliver payments on appropriate claim.
- Other duties as assigned.
**OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE**
- Insurance experience and asset.
- Level 1 insurance license an asset.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and with a team.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Customer focused and service oriented.
- Attention to detail and precision essential.
- Able and willing to work under pressure when needed.
