Job Description - Full Time Head of School
Job Summary

We are a BC accredited secondary school in downtown Vancouver. Our school has a combined focus on positive personal awareness and academic success. Unique to our school is our keystone course Happiness 12, which is a positive psychology course modeled after the curriculum from Harvard University. Through this course and all of our school programming, we aim to facilitate the holistic development of our students as they progress through their graduation program. We are looking for a knowledgeable, passionate, and community-driven teacher leader to join our team in pursuit of this goal.

Job Type / Category

The Head of School will be responsible for the following:

- To work with the teachers in the development of curriculum organization, school strategies, and teacher support;
- To promote teacher knowledge, competence, and confidence in British Columbia
- To engage in and encourage teachers’ engagement in continuous reflection and professional development;
- To maintain and enforce the school's student policies and disciplinary procedures;
- To lead the coordination and maintenance of extra-curricular activities, including school clubs, school events, and volunteering activities
- To ensure jointly with the Health and Safety Committee that all policy pertaining to health, safety, and supervision is promulgated and administered;
- To maintain and enhance stakeholder communications, including promotion of the school and regular communications with parents and guardians
- To assist with the Principal if needed.
- To maintain a 50% teaching load equivalent to two courses per semester
- Other duties as assigned

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
- BC Teacher Certificate
- Experience teaching and working with high school students, minimum 2 years
- Experience in administration and leadership, minimum 2 years
- Knowledge of and familiarity with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program curriculum and pedagogy
- Experience with AP courses
- Excellent English written language and fluent oral communication skills
- Flexible availability
- Energetic, cooperative, outgoing personality
- Excellent organizational skills, creativity, and adaptability
- A reflective practice and a desire for professional development

**Benefits**:
The salary for this position is $70,000.00 per year.

A 4 month probationary period (Extended health benefits will be provided after the successful conclusion of the probationary period)

A performance bonus if performance exceeds expectation.

Four (4) weeks vacation

School events, including a Whistler trip, Ocean Cruise, Christmas dinner and other field excursions and celebration events
