Van Driver/maintenance

The Van Driver acts as driver (chauffeur) for the Manor as a shared arrangement with the Long Care Home and the Outreach Program. When not driving the van, the van diver supports the Maintenance Team.

Reports to: Director of Outreach Services, Coordinators of Care, and the Director Environmental Services, Housekeeping Manager.

**Qualifications**:

- Holds a valid Class G or F Ontario driver’s license.
- Must submit a copy of driver’s abstract every 3 years.
- Must comply with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act and all its laws as it applies to them and those being transported within the vehicle so operated.
- Effective communication skills both oral and written.
- Must be in good health and able to carry out the physical demands of the function which include lifting, stooping and climbing.
- Must be respectful of others and ensure the safety of all in their care. E.g., boarding vehicle, assisting to appointment destinations,
- Must have a suitable personality and attitude for services related to seniors, persons with physical disabilities and those providing care to same.
- Must have PSW certification or equivalent skills.

**RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**
- Driver Duties_
- Checks the appointment calendar in all Care Areas and Day Program office for appointments and reports for duty accordingly. Normal work hours 8:00 - 4.00.
- Drives the Manor vehicle for Residents/Clients needing transportation to and from medical appointments, day program and/or recreational trips as scheduled within the Outlook Calendar. Any scheduled conflicts are to be brought to the attention of supervisor of concern. The driver may be asked to confirm travel / appointment prior to departure.
- Conducts daily safety checks of vehicles.
- Maintains regular servicing of Manor vehicle including checking all lubricants, other fluid levels, tires and other maintenance or repair items.
- Advises Director of Outreach Services of all repairs and/or servicing that is required and arranges for these through qualified service.
- Ensures that the vehicle is kept clean by vacuuming, dusting, washing, waxing, etc., and that the vehicle is regularly in presentable order.
- Ensures that each Resident/Client has been safely and comfortably transported, politely received, and will look after ensuring “referral” forms are delivered and returned.
- Maintains a travel log for all van travel - client name, time of departure, destination, time of return, total kilometers, fuel purchases, Resident/Client travel data is to be submitted to administration offices for bill processing monthly.
- Complies with cleaning and sanitization of van and IPAC protocols for all passengers.
- Drives the Manor vehicle for other tasks as assigned - picks up daily mail,
- Carries out various other tasks as assigned within workday and availability
- Maintenance Duties_
- Assists with minor repairs and maintenance, monthly fire and building preventative maintenance checks.
- Put away supplies after delivery.
- Assist with moving of heavy equipment (bed, lift chairs, furniture)
- Responsible for indoor and exterior plant care

**Job Types**: Full-time, Casual

Pay: $22.44-$23.32 per hour
