At Merit Kitchens, the Junior Machine Operator will interpret paperwork and use their machine operation background to fabricate wood products through a variety of computer numerical control (CNC) machines. The Junior Machine Operator will ensure the pieces that have gone through the machine meet the Merit standard.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Evaluate daily work orders to confirm completion.
- Read paperwork to select jobs and understand the work required to be done on the machine.
- Set up and operate one or more computerized or manual woodworking machines.
- Ensure piece count is correct and paperwork is filled in correctly.
- Operate controls, set offsets, and inspect parts for conformance to requirements.
- Operate pre-set special purpose woodworking machines to fabricate wood products.
- Measure finished products to ensure accuracy to the paperwork attached.
- Load and remove completed work pieces manually.
- Transport finished materials and parts to the appropriate subsequent department.
- Verify all parts and pieces are up to the Merit standard and functionality.
- Operate and maintain tools, machinery, and equipment to ensure compliance and safety.
- Contribute and participate in the effective use of the quality control system and provide recommendations to the Lead Hand of the area.
- Ensure all machines you have operated on are shut down by the end of the production day.
- Ensure your workstation is clean in between work orders, and at the start and end of the production day.

**CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS**:

- 1+ year of CNC machinery operating experience.
- Experience in cabinetry or manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
- Understand the safe operation of machinery.
- Knowledge of workplace hazardous materials.
- Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Time management, organization, and adaptability skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment with mínimal supervision.
- Basic computer skills.

**WAGE EXPECTATION**:
$18 to $20 per hour.
