As a Lab Assistant you will be responsible for processing of laboratory specimens and/or entering requisitions and/or results accurately and in a timely manner and ensure quality control checks and standards are run as required. Your contributions will make a difference and will greatly impact the downstream solutions and treatment critical to saving someone’s life. This is a permanent, full-time position, working Monday to Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. **_ Internal job posting closes at 5:00pm(EST) on March 12,2025._** **Why Dynacare is an amazing place for YOU**: - Join an award-winning "Top Employer" with meaningful and impactful career opportunities - Access a health and wellness benefits program that supports you and your loved ones - Grow and thrive with a dynamic, successful company through internal mobility opportunities - Invest in your future through RRSP match benefits and an employee stock purchase program - Experience a collaborative, diverse workforce that prioritizes dignity and respect for all **How YOU will make a difference**: - Data enter all patient and test information for MOH and Private client requisitions in an accurate and timely manner - Verify the completeness of all documentation and file related paperwork - Handle STAT, verbal, critical and special instructions as required - Process add-on test requests and subsequent specimen selection - Process all specimens including receiving, sorting, labeling, separation, and placing in appropriate area - Follow all guidelines for the handling of infectious material - Sort and/or label all specimens received matching to the documentation provided - Prioritize time sensitive specimens - Separate specimens to correct vials according to barcodes and type of test and ensure to place all specimens in appropriate area for testing and/or shipment to an outside laboratory - Responsible for reference problem solving any outstanding reference results - Liaise with various departments for any problems and inquiries - Responsible for processing all clinical trials as required - Perform routine pre-analytical equipment maintenance following documented procedures, as required - Prepare specimens, and documentation and shipping for reference testing - Ensure type of sample is correct for specified test and sent to correct reference laboratory - Responsible for follow-up on missing samples, documentation, results, etc. **What YOU bring to the role**: - Laboratory Assistant Program or minimum 1 year equivalent previous experience - Strong specimen processing knowledge - MLA Certification preferred - Excellent data entry skills required (minimum 40 words per minute) - Ability to handle incoming and outgoing phone calls and respond to changing priorities in a fast paced environment - Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. - Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team centered environment - Nice to have : Experience with AS400, Experience in Histology **Working Conditions** - Normal office environment - Medical laboratory environment - Required walking with repetitive motions - May sit or stand for prolonged period of time with extensive computer use - Required to lift a maximum of 30 pounds as required - Exposed to bio hazardous substances, temperature differences and noise variances Dynacare has been a “Top Employer” for many years and there is a reason why.
