**About the Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager of Nutrition & Food Services, the Clinical Dietitian is responsible and accountable to provide competent, safe and ethical professional practice to the patient/client, family, and community. The Clinical Dietitian, as a Medical Nutrition Therapy specialist, is the member of the interdisciplinary health professional team responsible for the nutritional management and education of patients. The Dietitian initiates cost effective medical nutrition therapy following the nutrition care process including nutrition assessment, identification of nutrition diagnosis, nutrition intervention and ongoing monitoring and evaluation. In the ambulatory care setting, the clinical dietitian is responsible for providing patients/clients with effective, evidence based best practice strategies to self-manage their nutrition care thereby decreasing risk and associated complications and hospital admissions. The Dietitian is responsible for sharing nutrition expertise, ensuring quality and continuity of care and supporting a range of health care services. These services are provided within a holistic, client centered framework in accordance with our mission, vision, values, and strategic direction. The Clinical Dietitian promotes a collaborative health care team approach in the provision of person-centered care to clients within General Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Plastics/Burns services.

**About You**:
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

- Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition/Dietetics required
- Completion of an accredited dietetic internship recognized by the Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice required
- Licensure by Nova Scotia Dietetic Association required
- Three (3) to five (5) years' recent related experience in acute care is preferred
- Specialty Practice Certifications such as Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), and Certified Nutrition Support Dietitian (CNSD) considered an asset
- Competency in dysphagia management, enteral, and parenteral nutrition preferred
- Experience with a variety of counselling strategies and behaviours modification
- Competency in oral and enteral nutrition support
- Demonstrated judgement and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated communication and conflict resolution skills
- Strong client focus and ability to build solid client/practitioner relationships
- Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills
- Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Demonstrated planning, organization, and time management skills
- Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices and organizational health
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

**Hours**:

- Short Assignment, Full Time; 75 hours bi-weekly

**Compensation and Incentives**:
$32.30 - $42.58 hourly
