**Digital Library Technician ~ Full-time Permanent Position**

1.0 FTE - 35 hours per week

**Division Office - Nisku, AB**

Black Gold School Division is seeking a dedicated and experienced Digital Librarian to oversee our Destiny library software services for our schools. This key role provides leadership in cataloguing, digital resource management and professional development for school library staff.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide day-to-day support to school library staff across the division.
- Update and implement division-wide library policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Create and maintain cataloguing manuals and instructional materials aligned with current metadata standards (AACR2, RDA, MARC).
- Oversee the division’s eLibrary and digital resource platforms to ensure equitable access and functionality.
- Support school librarians in collection development, weeding, and resource management aligned with curriculum and student needs.
- Plan and deliver professional development, training, and in-service sessions for library staff.
- Ensure compliance with copyright laws, licensing agreements, and digital resource security.
- Administer and maintain the Destiny Library System, including system updates, user access, and custom reporting.
- Manage budgets for digital resources.
- Monitor trends in library science and educational technology to inform ongoing improvement and innovation.

**Qualifications**
- Diploma or degree in Library and Information Technology (or related field).
- Strong working knowledge of Destiny Library software.
- Strong understanding of cataloguing standards (MARC, AACR2, RDA).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Passion for children's and young adult literature.
- Commitment to supporting the educational goals of Black Gold School Division.
