**Scope of work**:
Projects to be involved with would include; Building layouts (floor plans / elevations / sections / details), fire separations, spatial separation, site plans. Structural engineered wood, steel and concrete systems. Coordination with in‐house building system (mechanical / electrical) staff. By‐law and regulatory investigation for the project scopes.
The work is highly varied and non‐repetitive.
Areas of practice for the projects include: Industrial, Commercial and Residential / Multi‐Unit Residential Buildings; Ontario Building Code Compliance, Fire Code Compliance, and works on Hazardous Material Systems.
Clients vary from large multi‐national corporations, to one owner private buildings / projects.
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead design projects with the client and the internal design team.
- Manage the design project deliverables and design costs.
- Participate in project estimating, quoting, and design job financials.
- Work with the principal engineer at the company, in support of the project requirements.
- Provide coordination and minor selection / calculations for portions of the project: Steel systems per CSA S16 and S136. Wood systems per CSA O86. Concrete systems per CSA A23. Structural member calculations and iterations for the project. Sealing of documents within licence limits.
- Provide field reporting and general reviews for ongoing construction works.
- Communications with clients from initial project investigation to project completion.
- Coordinate with Municipalities regarding regulatory and permit works.
- Communicate and work with the Principal (P.Eng), Designers / EITs, Engineers and all stakeholders involved in the projects.
**Required Skills**:
- Experience (Architectural) in building envelope, fire separations, spatial separation, building layouts, barrier free, and familiarity with building systems (M&E for coordination).
- Experience (Structural) in: Steel design for beams, columns, connections, OWSJ, and deck systems. Light framing stud and joist systems. Wood beams, joists, connections, and bracing systems. Concrete foundations, walls, grade beams, floor slabs, retaining walls, rubble stone systems, and CMU systems. Structural experience with OBC Part 9 buildings.
- Author and seal specifications, calculations, drawings, field reports, letters and project reporting. Within licence limitations.
- Engage in numerous projects within a work week and manage multiple priorities.
- Be a self‐learner.
- Be able to complete assigned tasks within stipulated assigned timeframes and per client schedules.
- English communication at the Canadian University level both verbal and written is a must. IELTS score of 9 is required for non‐ English native speakers.
- Functional in all MS Office suite software. [Outlook, Excel, Word]. Use of BlueBeam Revu.
- Well versed in overall building design works and be proficient using AutoCAD 2D.
**Required Experience**:
- At least 6 years full time experience in the Ontario building industry post‐graduation, in building design having sealed plans, calculations, and specifications previously in Ontario.
- Must be licenced as an OAA, P.Eng. and/or CET in Ontario. Minimum 2 years having been fully licenced.
- Must have on‐going education credits / courses in the building industry. OBC, OAA, CISC, CWC,. Project management training completed previously is an asset.
- BCIN (Ontario). Registered in the categories: House, Small Buildings, Structural, Large Buildings, Fire Protection, and General Legal‐Process.
