The Algonquin Nursing Home is a bilingual 73-bed long-term care facility located in the town of Mattawa, Ontario, and is sponsored by the Catholic Health Sponsors of Ontario, licensed under the Ministry of Health, and accredited by Accreditation Canada. The Home’s goal is to use a team approach in order to provide a safe, clean, comfortable and pleasing home atmosphere for residents and their families.

**We are seeking qualified individuals to fill multiple part-time Personal Support Worker vacancies.**

**JOB SUMMARY**:
The PSW will:

- Adhere to the mandatory requirements as described in _Fixing Long-Term Care Act_, _2021 and Regulation 246/22_.
- Provide essential care needs for each resident, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, positioning, toileting, mobility, nutrition, ambulation, care of the resident’s personal environment, and other care needs as indicated by the care plan.
- Contribute to residents' psychosocial needs by assisting with programs and activities, encouraging and promoting independence, and encouraging participation in programs designed to meet physical, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and social needs.
- Demonstrate skills in contributing to the assessment of dementia, cognitive impairment and delirium, mental health, addictions and physical assessment skills and the techniques of behavioural approach and evaluation;
- Demonstrate a commitment to the establishment of therapeutic relationships with residents and families.
- Participate in a culture of safety by following appropriate standards, procedures, and legislation.
- Perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuing education.
- Demonstrate the ability to work and function independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrate leadership skills and excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrate respect and acceptance of diversity amongst individuals, and
- Perform other tasks, as required.

The PSW must be familiar with documenting information related to resident care, and must be an advocate for the protection of resident rights.

**QUALIFICATIONS & ABILITIES**
- Successful completion of Personal Support Worker certificate, or equivalent;
- Experience working in a long-term care facility (preferred);
- Compliance with confidentiality requirements;
- Demonstrated enthusiasm, flexibility and ability to cope with change;
- Bilingual in English and French (preferred);
- Excellent attendance and work record (required);
- Must be able to work all shifts and three of four weekends when required;
- Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $29.42-$30.37 per hour

Additional pay:

- Overtime pay

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Holidays
- Night shift
- Weekends as needed
