**Position Overview**:
The Aircraft Deicer will work as part of a team to provide superior service and stakeholder satisfaction through responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of equipment utilized for the purpose of tasks related to de-icing aircraft while ensuring the well-being of self and all internal and external stakeholders. The Aircraft Deicer provides leadership, technical support and fosters growth and development based on Inland’s values, while providing excellent customer service.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to)**:
- Assist the station management team with the responsibilities of the overall safety and performance of the de-icing operation
- Train, assign, and assess work of Aircraft De-icer’s
- Provide daily shift briefings to Aircraft De-icer’s and report all information about shifts to Management on duty
- Uphold and follow the duties related to de/anti-icing aircraft according to procedures for both airlines and Inland/ IDS (including inspecting aircraft for frozen contamination)
- Participate in pre-planning for de/anti-icing events by performing checks on equipment and servicing equipment with fuel or glycol
**Required Skills and Experience**:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Previous supervisory experience considered an asset
- Successful completion of all classroom and on-the-job training
- Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs and the ability to use Inland’s independent computer program “Ice Link - Aircraft Ground De-icing Management System”
- The ability to use an iPad and/or laptop
- Ability to read, write, speak and communicate effectively
- Ability to interpret documents including safety rules, operating and procedure manuals
- Basic knowledge of aircraft and how they perform
- General mechanical competence and ability to effectively use hand tools
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to maintain a positive and good-natured attitude
- Flexible schedule
- Must be comfortable working at various heights
- Must be comfortable operating large vehicles during inclement weather in constricted areas
- Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints
- A valid driver’s license is required for this position
**Work Environment**:
- The Aircraft Deicer will spend most of their time on the airfield ensuring that operations goals are being achieved. There will be regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions (wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and vibration). The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
**Physical Demands**:
- Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds regularly
- Employees must have the ability to climb 15-foot heights for work
- Position involves standing or sitting for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms
- Ability to work in a confined space for extended periods of time
- Work outdoors for long periods when necessary
- Wearing of personal protective equipment when required and full mobility allowing for freedom of movement in high-risk environment
- Must be able to speak clearly and hear efficiently in English
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- May be required to move, connect, disconnect hoses and be able to operate industrial valves and perform general labor duties
