Stoney Creek, Canada Stantec Full time

Many of the world’s top engineers and scientists come together in our Water business because they view a community’s interaction with water a bit differently—as a single holistic system, rather than unconnected networks divided by jurisdictional boundaries. Working throughout the hydrologic cycle, we are delivering sustainable solutions to make sure water is where it should be and available when needed. Our experts guide our work with scientific rigor, an innovative spirit, and a vision for growth. Every day, we help communities improve, reuse, and protect this precious resource for future generations. Grow with us, H2O+U.

Your Opportunity

As Leader of the Water and Wastewater Division, your role is to oversee the Teams under your Division, provide strategic direction and to ensure that the Teams communicate, share resources and act as a unified entity, especially on larger projects. The role is oriented to someone who is an excellent “people leader” that cares about and supports the team and is able to gain trust. The Division Leader is the “glue” that binds each Team together and encourages coordination and work across office.

Typical to all leadership roles in Stantec, this role is for a “working” leader who is also active as a technical resource and Senior Project Manager as an integrated part of our Water team managing and delivering projects to our municipal and private sector clients both in Ontario and across North America.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Working with Team Leads, identify any new staffing needs and required qualifications. Coordinate the recruiting process including posting, interview and hiring process.
- Makes recommendations to Leadership regarding compensation adjustments.
- Provides guidance and input on the strategic hiring needs of the Division.
- Provides strategic direction to the Division and input to Leadership on the annual business plan.
- Monitors utilization across the Division and coordinates with the Team Leads to ensure that appropriate resources are available to address project needs including resource sharing across Teams.
- Sets Division utilization and individual utilization targets in conjunction with the Leadership.
- Establishes standard procedures to maintain quality assurance standards as required.
- Provides guidance and support to the Team Leaders and coordinates regular coordination meetings with the Team Leaders.
- Provides input to Sector Leads and Practice Leads to identify strategic conferences, provide input to conference planning and budgeting, and identify staff for participation and attendance.
- Enables regular communication between the Team Leads and the Sector Leads and Practice Leads on strategic pursuits, hires and direction.
- Plans and coordinates an annual Team engagement event for all team members, to recognize staff contributions and highlight key staff milestones.
- Act as a client service lead and/or project manager for projects in your areas of specialized experience.
- Provide project management on projects including communication, financial and schedule tracking as well as development of related interim plans to address challenges. Projects assigned may be broad, varied and diverse in scope. You will analyze proposed projects to ensure safety, reliability, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Make sound decisions for Stantec’s staff, business interests, and clients, consistent with our core values.
- Support successful delivery of technical design services for water and wastewater facility projects. This includes services under alternative delivery models (such as design build) and construction-phase services.
- Leverage Stantec resources to ensure successful technical execution of high-quality work products.
- Consistently demonstrate a commitment to the Health and Safety culture within Stantec.
