Tavistock, Canada Gierdown Farms Ltd. Full time

Gierdown Farms Ltd, a modern robotic dairy operation located less than 10 mins north of Woodstock near Hickson is looking for a full time employee for hire immediately. Gierdown Farms milks 150 cows on robots and operates a land base to provide feed to cattle. Hours will be 30-50/week including weekend work, and can be somewhat flexible around the employees schedule. The employee will be required to work some weekend hours.

Assets:

- G drivers license and own mode of transportation
- ability to work individually or as a part of a team
- mechanical experience
- ability to safely work around and handle cattle
- competent at operating large machinery
- physically motivated
- tractor/equipment operation experience

**Duties**:

- work days will regularly start around 7am (coming in for 6am occasionally) generally ending around 5. Some nights will be required to help later during the busy season
- routine work of scraping stalls, walkways
- cleaning and sanitizing barn equipment
- safe handling of cows, heifers and calves sorting, moving, loading
- feeding of individual calves and monitoring of group fed calves
- bedding pack pens
- lawn mowing, landscaping and yard maintenance
- operating a payloader regularly doing jobs in the farm yard
- repairing and maintaining barn and field equipment
- vaccinating animals and recording vaccinations using computer software
- providing treatments and animal care to different groups of animals
- recording animal events in computer software
- analyzing computer software to monitor cow health status and production
