**Volunteer Position**: Food Cupboard Assistant
**Name of Program**: Basic Needs and Support Services
**Duration**: 3months and above
**Hours Required**: 1-4 Shifts per week (Monday-Friday; 9am-1pm/1pm-5pm)
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Assisting with the front desk of CNRC to ensure all participants making inquiries and requests for CNRC services are looked after promptly with dignity and respect.
- Handing out food cupboard items to participants according to CNRC policy.

**Key Tasks**
- Sit at the front desk at CNRC to greet participants seeking service.
- Redirecting participants according to need or request
- Explaining rules of food cupboard access
- Recording relevant qualifying and use information from participant requesting food cupboard items
- Accessing food cupboard to collect items requested and giving them to participant
- Making participants aware of other CRNC services which may be of assistance
- Ensuring food cupboard inventory is reviewed at end of shift and items requiring restocking are appropriately noted for staff/shopping volunteer.

**Skills and Attributes Required**: Friendly, compassionate, non-judgmental person able to communicate clearly what is offered at the food cupboard and the terms of use of the food cupboard.
Able to observe and enforce terms of use as well as behavioural issues in a calm manner. Familiarity with de-escalation tactics an asset.

**Job Type**: Volunteer

Pay: $0.01 per hour

**Education**:

- Secondary School (preferred)
