Tool & Die Apprentice

**Job Scope**:
Tool and Die Maker Apprentice at Theta TTS, will undergo a structured training and hands-on experience on Fine Blanking, Progressive and Transfer dies.

The skills and knowledge required to build, repair and maintain precision dies is developed during the apprenticeship. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, various problem techniques, tool building, grinding and CNC machining are taught.

**Responsibilities**:

- Absorb knowledge and skills through classroom instruction, on-the-job training,, and practical work experience to achieve a broad foundation in tool and die making
- Assist in fabricating and assembling of high precision fine blanking, progressive and transfer dies, jigs, and fixtures according to engineering drawings and specifications
- Operate manual and CNC machines such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and wire EDM
- Participate in maintenance activities to ensure the proper functioning of tools and dies, including sharpening, reworking, and repairing damaged or worn parts to ensure maximum uptime in production
- Follow quality control procedures to verify the dimensional accuracy and functionality of finished products, making adjustments as necessary to meet specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of the work performed to support traceability and continuous improvement efforts
- Adhere to safety protocols, regulations, and best practices to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents or injuries

**Qualifications**:

- Enrollment in or completion of atleast 2nd year formal apprenticeship program in tool and die making, machining, or related field is preferred
- Strong interest and aptitude in mechanical systems, machinery operation, and precision manufacturing processes.
- Basic understanding of machining principles, metrology, blueprint reading, and CAD/CAM software is advantageous
- Ability to work with precision tools and delicate components, demonstrating keen attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Capacity to troubleshoot technical issues, analyze problems, and develop effective solutions with mínimal supervision
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and communicate effectively to achieve common goals and objectives within a dynamic manufacturing environment
- Flexibility to learn new techniques, adapt to changing priorities, and work efficiently in a fast-paced, production-oriented setting

**Working Conditions**:

- Manufacturing facility and tool room, which may involve exposure to noise, dust, oil, and fumes. Adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are essential to ensure a safe working environment.
- The job requires prolonged periods of standing, bending, and lifting heavy materials or equipment. Manual dexterity and physical stamina are necessary to operate machinery and perform intricate tasks with precision.
- Apprenticeship programs follows a structured schedule combining on-the-job training with classroom instruction. Work hours may include regular daytime shifts or rotating shifts to support 24/7 production operations.
- As an apprentice, you will undergo a comprehensive training program supervised by experienced mentors and instructors.
- Adherence to safety guidelines and procedures is paramount to prevent workplace accidents and injuries. Tool and die maker apprentices must demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment by following safety protocols, using protective equipment, and promptly reporting any hazards or incidents to supervisors.

(40 hours) Overtime after 40 hours

Shifts: Day shift/Afternoon shift rotation

Afternoons (7.5% shift bonus)

**Salary**: Depends on qualifications and educational achievement

Job Location: Barrie, ON

Pay: From $20.50 per hour
