Contract Instructor, On Campus Physics Instructor, Academic Upgrading Program

NAIT’s Department of Continuing Education for the Academic Upgrading program is seeking on campus Physics contract instructors to teach high school grades 11, and/or grade 12 physics classes during the 15-week Winter 2026 term, (January to April 2026). The Academic Upgrading program will be offering daily instruction per week for the full term.
The Winter 2026 on campus courses will be delivered four days per week in-person between 9:00am - 3:00pm (7 hours per course per week), between January 8 to April 24, 2026.There are a possible three scheduled block classes during the day. We are seeking instructors who have experience in teaching AB physics 20 or 30 High School Education Learning Outcomes. A contracted instructor must have a desire to maintain positive and professional interactions with adult learners at a variety of skill levels, ages, and backgrounds. Instructors must also be able to engage learners in interesting and innovative lessons within the class.
Please note, those invited for an interview will be asked to do a short on campus demonstration lesson as part of the selection process.
**Contract Instruction Deliverables**:
- Provide classroom instruction using an outcome-based educational approach in grade 11, and or grade 12 high school physics courses.
- Utilize appropriate educational technology for communications and course delivery
- Prepare, create, and deliver lessons and activities that directly support the course Learning Outcomes in a classroom environment
- Create and administer in-person assessments according to Learning Outcomes
- Evaluate and assess student learning and performance
- Maintain student attendance and other documentation as required
- Liaise with the Academic Upgrading staff and colleagues to ensure content relevance, consistent delivery of course materials and testing across sections
- Maintain professional ethical relationships with students and colleagues
- Respond professionally to student issues and concerns
- Seek feedback from students on instructional effectiveness
**Skills & Abilities**:
- Energetic in leading and motivating students
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Excellent classroom management and instructional skills
- Become proficient in the use of NAIT-LMS Brightspace (D2L), Microsoft Teams, and supported tools for online or in-person
- Ability to prepare, create, deliver, and modify course content to meet varying student learning needs
- Strong orientation to student success and satisfaction and empathetic to student needs
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Computer skills related to course delivery
- Strong online technology skills. As they may be asked to teach in a combined environment.
- Strong understanding of AB High School physics curriculum, or equivalent.
**Qualifications**:
- Related B.Ed. or relevant degree preferred
- Proficient in using learning technologies
- Related instructional experience at the high school or post-secondary levels an asset
