The Portage la Prairie School Division is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our team as an Educational Assistant for the Building, Instruction and Trades (BCT) Program at Portage Collegiate Institute. This is a vocational program that prepares students for a career in a trade. The BCT Educational Assistant supports the BCT teacher with day-to-day management of the BCT shop and classrooms.Duties include: - Supporting students and teachers in the classroom and on the shop floor
- Assisting students with shop procedures, and shop safety while keeping them on task
- Assisting teachers with maintaining a clean and safe work environment
- Helping to maintain workshop equipment
- Working directly with clients including booking/designing projects and providing estimates
- Processing work orders and tracking invoicesQualifications: - High School Diploma or equivalent
- Training and experience with carpentry required
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others
- Ability to resolve conflict while maintaining confidentiality
- Ability to relate to high school students
- Ability to work effectively as a member of an instructional team
