Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the In-House Painter will provide general painting labour support to the Maintenance Department and play an active role in ensuring that our properties are aestheticallly pleasing and well-maintained.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the In-House Painter will include:
- Drywall, plaster and wallpaper repairs, touch-ups and alterations at various Accora Village properties in interior and exterior common areas and in occupied and unoccupied tenant units as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or other designated supervisors.
- Painting, including touch-ups and alterations at various Accora Village properties in interior and exterior common areas and in occupied and unoccupied tenant units as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or other designated supervisors.
- Minor capital projects painting at various Accora Village properties as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or other designated supervisors.
- Maintaining and reporting inventory of Accora Village painting equipment and materials
- Providing assistance to other staff to enable completion of work in a timely and secure manner; and such other duties appropriate to the worker’s level of skill and responsibility
- They may perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Maintenance Supervisors and Senior Maintenance Manager.
- Working with handheld technology to track daily tasks and payroll
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Secondary School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with commercial painting, property maintenance or equivalent demonstrated work experience is expected
- Unless an accommodation under Ontario’s Humans Rights Code is applicable, it is a requirement of the company that all eligible employees are and will remain fully vaccinated against COVID-19
- WHMIS and Fall Protection Training would be an asset
- Completion of training for both Mold & Asbestos Remediation pursuant to current provincial & federal health & safety legislation would be an asset
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle
- Reasonable fluency in written and verbal English. Other language skills are an asset.
- Must have or be willing to obtain a valid criminal background check
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Interior and exterior work in all weather conditions
- Exposure to unsanitary conditions, noise, dust and fumes

- Frequent travel between buildings to visit properties and inspect equipment
- Competing demands may create stress
- Occasional lifting and carrying tools or equipment up to 50 pounds may be required
