**Position Description**

Reporting to the Director of Performance & Fun Times, the Manager, Super Science Club will play both lead and supporting roles in coordination, implementation, documentation and evaluation of programs, exhibits and resources. The portfolio will include leadership of Super Science Club (SSC) and curation of the Bodyworks permanent exhibit gallery located at Science World.

SSC is an afterschool science club for students in grades 1-7, which occurs in underserved schools and community centres around Vancouver. The focus of the SSC leadership work includes supervision, mentoring, and recruitment of a 15-20-person part-time staff team, management of equipment and consumables, development of program curriculum, monthly reporting and collaboration with the development team around donor communications and reporting, and communication with school/partner liaisons. Additional program leadership opportunities include implementation and direction of the SSC affiliate program in the Fraser Valley and occasional pilot programming and events for other underserved audiences.

As curator of the Bodyworks permanent exhibit gallery, this position works with the Experiential Learning staff, Visitor Experience Facilitators and the Exhibits team to maintain a high-quality visitor experience at our facility. This work will collaborate with the Human Resources team in the recruitment, training and support for a team of gallery-specific core volunteers.

As a facility, Science World is generally open to the public seven days a week, with some extended evening hours in the summer months. Typical office hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm, with front-facing and operational teams also working a variety of shifts including weekends, holidays and evenings. Hours of work and other related requirements will be scheduled according to business needs and this may include special events on evenings, weekends and holidays.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide program participants with a creative, awesome, wow, memorable hands-on science experience
- Recruit and hire SSC facilitation staff
- Train, supervise and coach the SSC facilitation team with support from the SSC Lead Facilitator
- Design and coordinate SSC activities beyond the after-school core programming, including Family Science Nights
- Act as primary liaison with SSC schools and other community representatives connected with program audiences
- Report and Facilitate solutions for incidents (both safety and behavioural) that occur during Super Science Club
- Explore models for expanding and sharing program resources throughout the province
- Contribute to budget development and manage ongoing budget tracking related to portfolio of responsibilities
- Lead the curatorial work for the Bodyworks exhibit gallery
- Support regional delivery partners in providing their affiliate program participants with a creative, awesome, wow, memorable science experience
- Complete monthly stats reporting and contribute to report and proposal writing related to a portfolio of responsibilities
- Lead testing and revision of upcoming curriculum resources for each SSC program season and support (as requested/needed) the development and translation into online resources
- Contribute to marketing and collateral resource material related to a portfolio of responsibilities
- Perform other duties as required to fulfill any changing business needs of this role

**Qualifications**
- A degree in Science, Education or equivalent experience
- Experience with informal science education, including proven experience working with SSC’s target audience
- Experience recruiting, training, supervising and scheduling a team
- Excellent communication skills, able to perform before audiences of varying size and composition
- Strong ability to identify and take action to help where required and to organize and prioritize tasks in a way that is most helpful to the larger goals and schedule of the program
- Demonstrated dependability, reliability, flexibility, and willingness to contribute to a dynamic team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
