Marpole Neighbourhood House (MNH) is currently seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, responsible and energetic individual who is passionate about providing engaging activities for children and youth aged 5-18yrs.
The Child and Youth Worker will work collaboratively with the Youth Programmer to plan and facilitate afterschool programs for children aged 5 to 12yrs and mentor youth aged 13-18yrs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan fun and engaging activities for children aged 5 to 12 yrs
- Empower and actively engage youth in community building and leadership development.
- Supervise, orient, and motivate youth participants and volunteers.
- Ensure programs are inclusive and meet the interests of the children and youth.
- Establish professional, collaborative relationships with community partners, including school support teams, community centre staff and other community serving organizations.
- Attend monthly meetings and community events in the schools.
- Perform administrative tasks such as record keeping, reporting, and daily communications with staff, parents and community partners.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Certification, diploma or degree in Education, Child and Youth Care, and Community Support or related fields.
- Relevant experience working with school aged children and youth.
- Knowledge of community resources and services for youth and families in the Marpole area.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in writing and verbally.
- Passionate about working in a culturally diverse and inclusive environment.
- First Aid and Food Safe certified are strong assets.
- Clear criminal record check upon hire required.
Employment Terms: This is a full-time position (30hrs/week) shifts Monday to Friday. Evenings and weekends may be required. Compensation: $23.59-$26.14/hour (based on skills and experience).
