**Overview**
As a Pet Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of pets in our care. This position requires a genuine love for animals and a strong desire to learn best practices when it comes to pet boarding and daycare as you'll be a part of the day-to-day Dog Ranch operations.

We often work with dogs that are fearful, shy or have anxiety, so we're looking for applicants who are compassionate, patient and have an ability to help pets feel safe.

**Responsibilities**
- Responsible for both the physical health and the emotional well-being of all dogs in our care.
- Interact with dogs in playgroups using appropriate toys and tools to ensure safe levels of play and minimizing stress levels of all dogs in playgroup. Maintain visual observation of dogs at all times and spread attention and play among all dogs in playgroup.
- Manage level of dog play by following dog management protocols and instructions provided by the Supervisor.
- Use approved dog handling techniques and follow dog introduction procedures.
- Watch all new dogs carefully and immediately consult with the Supervisor if you have concerns. For all dogs in playgroup; report any unusual behaviour, eliminations and injuries immediately.
- Review special needs list and manage dogs as instructed.
- Plan how dogs will be put organized for meals, breaks and sleeping in accordance to procedures. Consult with the Supervisor if you have concerns on being able to organize the dogs safely.
- Provide daily care for pets, including prepping meals, feeding, grooming, and exercising them according to their specific needs.
- Monitor the health and behavior of pets, reporting any concerns to management or pet owners.
- Ensure that all safety protocols are followed to protect both pets and staff.
- Perform basic grooming such as bathing, nails clipping and ear cleaning.
- Help check-in and check-out dogs (overnight guests and day camp dogs).

The successful applicants are expected to complete ongoing training by attending classes, completing reading assignments and watching videos for professional development and certification.

**Skills**
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English
- Must have access to your own vehicle transportation as there is no public bus service to our location
- Strong customer service skills and experience
- Physically fit and able to perform heavy lifting as required by the role
- A genuine passion for animal care and welfare, with experience in handling various types of pets preferred
- Excellent observational skills to monitor pet behavior and health conditions accurately
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively with other staff members
- Proven leadership skills and dependability

Pay: $17.00-$22.00 per hour
