Labourer

**Job Summary**
Ashton Construction is a general contracting and construction management firm providing professional construction services to commercial and multifamily residential clients. We are seeking carpenters for our growing firm based in Canmore, AB.

**Responsibilities**
- Follow all safety protocols and assist with maintaining a safe working environment. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and report any safety hazards or concerns to the supervisor. Comply with all safety requirements mandated by Alberta Occupational Health & Safety and company safety policies.
- Provide support to skilled tradespeople such as carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and masons as needed during construction activities.
- Assist with site management by clearing debris, removing trash, and organizing materials. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure the safety and efficiency of the crew.
- Load, unload, and move materials, tools, and equipment as required on the job site. Assist in organizing and storing materials in the appropriate locations to ensure accessibility and avoid damage.
- Perform physical tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying, and installing materials. Assist with setting up scaffolding, barricades, and other safety measures as directed by supervisors.
- Assist in the cleaning, maintenance, and care of tools and equipment to ensure they remain in good working condition.
- Carry out tasks as directed by the Foreperson or Site Superintendent. Adhere to schedules and timelines to help ensure that work is completed efficiently.
- General labouring and skilled labouring including cleanup, rough carpentry, heating and hoarding, etc.

**Qualifications & Experience**
- Construction experience considered an asset.
- Able to work independently, take initiative and stay motivated with mínimal supervision.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification is required. Successful applicants are expected to obtain within probationary period. Preference given to those holding current Basic or Standard First Aid & CPR Certification.

**Requirements**:

- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and work in positions requiring standing, crouching, and working at heights for extended periods
- Comfortable working in outdoor environments, including during colder months.
- Must have and maintain a valid Class 5 license, with a clean driving record.
- Eligible to legally work in Canada without employer sponsorship.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from worksites (or agreed upon carpool pick up locations).

**Compensation and Benefits**:

- Remuneration based on experience, starting between $25 per hour.
- General Holiday Pay and Vacation Pay paid monthly as percentage of pay as per industry standard.

- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

- Canmore, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- construction: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Class 5 Licence (required)
