**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY**

Routine microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, stability samples, media preparation, environmental monitoring, antibiotic assays, growth promotion testing and antimicrobial effectiveness testing.

**SPECIFIC DUTIES**
- Initiate, test & report microbiological analysis of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and stability samples according to USP
and USP
- Performing Environmental Monitoring of the GMP Facility and Microbiology Laboratory per schedule, including sampling collection, testing and assessment of results.
- Prepare & maintain stock cultures. Perform media challenge testing.
- Support identification of isolates in the lab, routine lab techniques and Vitek Instrumentation.
- Prepare media and execute autoclave operation, housekeeping and lab cleanliness per schedule.
- Perform method suitability testing (verification/validation work) on all new raw materials and finished products, or as required by changes deriving from the USP general chapters. Ensure compliance with FDA guidelines, Health Canada guidelines, USP guidelines, customer specifications and industry standards is maintained at all times.
- Perform antibiotic assays using turbidimetric analysis as well as cylinder plate assays.
- Ensure all testing is documented in the appropriate logbooks and hard copy records are completed in a timely manner.
- Support investigations both within the microbiology lab as well as facility investigations as required.
- Provide accurate, neat, reliable, complete analysis reports, including result entry in computerized reports or Laboratory Information Management System, by following approved test procedures and relevant Standard Operating Procedures, which permit proper evaluation of the sample tested. Other duties as assigned.

**EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE**
- Bachelor of Science with strong focus in microbiology
- Experience in GMP microbiology lab
- Experience in a GMP manufacturing facility performing EM support.
