What You’ll Be Doing

In the role of Model Risk Governance Analyst, you will have the opportunity to join CIBC’s Model Validation group. You will help develop and support CIBC’s model risk management framework to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., SR 11-7, E-23, and MRR, etc.). You will interact with model owners, model developers, business users and audit groups to establish and maintain sound processes and procedures for model submission, model inventory management, and ongoing model monitoring, including model conditions monitoring, model recommendations tracking and model performance review on a regular basis. You will also have the opportunity to support model validation work as needed, primarily on pricing models and regulatory capital models to support Capital Markets Risk Management in Parent Bank as well as regional offices (Luxemburg/APAC/CIBC Caribbean, etc.).

How You’ll Succeed- Problem Solving: Review the regulatory requirements and facilitate gap assessments on the current processes and procedures. Propose solutions to potential enhancements to ensure compliance.-
- Critical Thinking: Understand model risk and best practices on model risk governance and controls, and challenge the status quo.- Reporting: Assist in writing documents for policies, standards, processes, and procedures for model risk management. Help prepare reports or presentations to evidence and update on model risk controls and governance work.- Communication: Support the interaction with internal and external auditors to provide attestation or artifacts for governance and control on model risk management. Help communicate regulatory requirements to various stakeholders and senior management.

Who You Are- You can demonstrate experience and knowledge of the financial services sector (especially financial banks) and the regulatory requirements on model risk management. Experience in areas such as model validation, model risk, governance, regulatory compliance, and/or audit is a plus.- You have a degree. Bachelors and/or Masters in the areas of Economics, Mathematical Finance, Financial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative areas.- You have good technical skills. Proficient with MS Office tools and some programming skills are an asset.- You love to learn. Maintain up-to-date knowledge regarding regulatory requirements on model risk management and industry best practices for processes and tools for model risk governance and controls.-
