Synchena Consulting Inc is a GIS and Municipal Asset Management consulting firm located just outside of Winnipeg in East St Paul, MB. We provide (Geographic Information Systems) and Asset Management support to municipalities and other local government agencies in the capital region of Winnipeg.

**Position**

Synchena Consulting Inc is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to fill our Municipal Infrastructure Specialist role reporting to the Director/CEO.

As a Municipal Infrastructure Specialist, you will support the maintenance and enhancement of GIS and municipal infrastructure asset datasets. Our primary clients are municipalities that own and operate a wide range of infrastructure assets, including water, wastewater, drainage, and transportation networks.

In this role, you will help clients strengthen their technical understanding of the infrastructure they manage by maintaining and improving their asset datasets, primarily using GIS software. You will be a key contributor to the data that informs municipal asset management, planning, operations, and decision-making.

Most work will involve office-based drafting, GIS editing, and data management. Occasional field work may be required for data collection, asset condition inspections, verification and related tasks. Core responsibilities include editing and maintaining infrastructure layers such as transportation networks, water distribution, wastewater collection, drainage systems, and parks and recreation assets.

**Responsibilities**
- Create, collect, update and maintain municipal infrastructure data and associated metadata.
- Converting CAD data into GIS municipal infrastructure layers.
- Employ civil infrastructure engineering principles to maintain comprehensive datasets.
- Coordinate with municipal team members to perform field condition assessments.
- Develop processes and procedures to inspect and collect asset data.
- Supervise summer students.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Proficiency with Esri’s ArcGIS software.
- High technical aptitude for software (CAD, GIS, Excel).
- Attention to detail and ability to write technical and detailed reports.
- Strong record keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently without supervision as well as in a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, and communication skills.
- Comfortable with travel outside of Winnipeg, in rural municipal government offices (within 45 minute range of Winnipeg).
- Strong customer service skills.

**Qualifications**
- 2-5 years experience.
- Certified Engineering Technologist or Technician (CET) diploma or similar certification, diploma or degree.
- Valid Manitoba drivers license.
- Must pass criminal record check.
- Must be legally eligible for work in Canada.
- Experience or knowledge of municipal or government GIS environment an asset.

**Salary/Benefits**
- Starting salary: $75,000 - $90,000
- Full-time permanent position, 40 hours a week.
- 3 month probation period.

- 3 week vacation time.

Pay: $75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
