This widely-known Canadian hardware retailer & building centre is looking for a new Lumber and Building Materials Manager to join their close-knit team in Smithville, ON. This person will lead, motivate, and train a team of sales associates to provide exemplary service to their customers and create a department that exceeds customer expectations for the selection and availability of products.
**Your Opportunity**:
**We are looking for the LBM to own the following responsibilities;**
- Delivering excellent service to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction
- Maintain departmental inventory at desired levels for maximum turnover and profitability
- Motivate and manage the sales team to meet sales objectives through training and mentoring
- Contribute to store goals by achieving assigned sales targets for the department
- Be familiar with and keep up to date on the prices and practices of competitors
- Keep up to date with new building materials and lumber products, including their uses, advantages, and disadvantages
- Creating business strategies to attract new customers, expand store traffic, and enhance Profitability
- Semi-annual performance reviews
- Review Corporate updates and newsletters weekly on Connect to stay current on new items and Processes
- Attend store meetings as required (meetings may be after store hours)
Work in a safe manner and complete all required safety training in accordance with provincial and federal safety legislation.
**Requirements**:
- Must have previous supervisory experience
- Sales experience required
- Must have hands-on work experience within the lumber industry
- Exceptional Customer service in a retail environment
- Basic building code knowledge is an asset
**Compensation/ Benefits**:
- $50-60K Salary
- Full benefits, deferred profit sharing plan
