Vice President, Quality and Compliance

Our client, a leading Consumer Goods Company, is looking to hire a **Vice President**, **Quality and Compliance** on a full-time, permanent basis, at their office located in **North York, Ontario**.
Reporting to the COO, the Vice President, Quality and Compliance will be responsible for ensuring continual and proper Quality Assurance, Control and Compliance across the Company to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
**Responsibilities**:
**(1) Planning**:
- Guides the development of all quality assurance activities and quality management system processes
- Defines, develops and implements short-term and long-term strategies, goals, objectives and tactics relating to the regulatory and quality assurance functions and the quality management system
**(2) Quality Systems**:
- Formulates and administers policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) relating to the quality assurance function and the quality management system
- Develops and maintains systems for procedures, work instructions and forms and creates and implements appropriate quality training programs
- Uses incident and Corrective and Preventive Action (“CAPA”) activities and processes to drive quality improvements and respond to process and service issues
**(3) Quality Control**:
- Responsible for planning and directing quality control department and programs involving inspection/testing, methods, devices and controls
- Maintains quality through internal and external inspection of raw materials, finished items purchased and production operations and processes
**(4) Audits**:
- Implements, performs and oversees internal quality auditing (including applicable vendors or subcontractors), customer quality audit response and other quality management system activities
- Ensures applicable services are “inspection ready”
**(5) Continuous Improvement**:
- Implements a continuous improvement plan for growing and maturing the regulatory and quality assurance functions and the quality management system, including the following tasks:
- Performs periodic internal quality management system reviews and audits
- Reviews and recommends appropriate corrective action to ensure consistency with the regulatory and quality assurance function and the quality management system
- Designs and develops key quality, compliance and performance indicators and implements and enforces best practices, processes, guidelines, systems and technology to support and enhance the quality assurance function and the quality management system
- Analyzes performance of quality assurance function and quality management system activities and the documented resolutions, identifies problem areas and devises and delivers solutions to enhance quality control and prevent future issues
**(6) Other**:
- Maintains current knowledge base of regulations, corporate policies and standards to ensure that the regulatory and quality assurance function and the quality management system remain in compliance with applicable regulatory and corporate standards/requirements and current with industry trends and best practices
- Â-Manages government interactions requiring government approvals, liaison with Health Canada/FDA
- Directs all departmental budgets and goals for Quality Department
- Keeps the Senior Leadership Team apprised of quality assurance issues as needed.
**Qualifications**:
- 10+ years progressive experience in QA and Regulatory in Personal Care, Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical or OTC
- 5+ years experience managing a team
- Private label experience a strong asset
- Post-secondary education required
- Background in Sciences/ Chemistry an asset
- Health Canada/ FDA audit management experience
