Community Housing Case Worker

Reporting to the Community Housing Supervisor, the Community Housing Caseworker will work within an integrated team of Community Services professionals. The primary focus of the Community Housing Caseworker is to provide life stabilization and housing retention supports for Renfrew County Housing Corporation Tenants and Applicants.

This is a contract opportunity offering full-time hours up to December 31, 2025.

**Responsibilities**:

- Calculates rent, prepares leases and provides all required duties in accepting and documenting rent.
- Responsible for the administration of the Rent Supplement Program.
- Responsible for the collection of former tenant arrears.
- Provides administrative support services.
- Conducts research, analyzes data, assembles data, prepares presentations, provides reports, correspondence and documents.
- Ensure programs are used by eligible households who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
- Responsible for the submission of collected statistical and financial information in accordance with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing guidelines.
- Create and distribute promotional materials outlining the program services.
- Identify and obtain appropriate supports for tenants at risk (i.e. tenants with psychological/social problems, dementia, and addictions).
- Work with Community Housing Supervisor to support and address: security to tenants, current arrears, proper unit maintenance, health and safety matters, and social issues, by promoting tenant compliance with Corporate Policies and Procedures.
- Liaise with community partners by informing community agencies about housing programs, referring tenants to community services, and advocating for tenants with community agencies, and obtaining community support for non-traditional housing initiatives.
- Assist tenant groups with scheduling and organizing of special events, foster effective working relationship with tenant groups, conflict resolution between tenants and tenant groups.
- Performs the responsibilities of the position within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in the applicable Provincial and Municipal Acts. Performs the responsibilities of the position consistent with the Operational policies of the Renfrew County Housing Corporation.
- Protects own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safety. Follows all guidelines for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.

**Qualifications**:

- Two-year post-secondary education in a social services or related human services field, or combination of social services experience and education.
- Knowledge and experience with housing laws and available resources.
- Experience with financial administration and data report preparation.
- Excellent ability to adapt to changing priorities and in adjusting work plans accordingly.
- Excellent organizational skills and an ability to self-motivate.
- Strong interpersonal abilities combined with written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to identify key issues in problem solving and implement effective and creative solutions.
- Proficiency in the use of computers, including MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, creating reports, and online research.
- Must demonstrate corporate, department and position competencies (Honesty & Integrity, Professionalism, Client Service Orientation, Focus on Results, Communication).
- Valid driver license and access to a vehicle is mandatory.
- Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $34.75-$39.72 per hour
