**Heavy Duty Cleaner - Tendercare Living Centre**

**Responsibilities**:

- Disposes of garbage bags to a large dumpster located outside of the facility removes and deposits into dumpster.
- Cleans dining rooms, kitchen and common areas
- Buff and polish floors in common areas and dining rooms
- Cleans all assigned rooms and common areas on a daily basis.
- Empty small garbage containers, replace bag inserts and replace bag inserts and clean containers as necessary
- Cleans sink, faucet, mirrors and toilets.
- Replaces or fill toilet paper, paper towel and soap in dispenser
- Cleans walls, doorframes and doors, chairs, televisions, dressers and window ledges
- Dust mop and damp mop floors, pulling out easily movable furniture.
- High dusting with damp cloth or handled duster, picture frames, bathroom light fixtures, over bed lights, tops of door frames, cabinet shelves etc.
- Low dusting with damp cloth, handled duster or dry mop baseboards, chairs, radiators, etc.
- Clean outside of all furniture, chairs, dressers, bedside table, garbage containers, bed legs, etc.
- Move TVs, bar fridges and other items to clean surfaces below them.
- Assist maintenance staff with the removal of all room furniture.
- Adheres to established company policies and procedures regarding infection prevention and control, quality assurance, fire, and safety etc.
- Participates in staff meetings as assigned, attends in service education programs and completes all mandatory education as assigned.
- Collaborates with other departments in such tasks as transferring residents, moving, ordering and storing supplies, etc.
- Other duties deemed necessary by the Supervisor.

**Hours of Work**

15 hours per week

**Schedule**

8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Must be available to work 4 shifts in a 14 day period including every other weekend

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 12 certificate or equivalent education
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English (other languages an asset)
- Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures.
- Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening to be provided.
- Experience with an older adult population an asset
- Strong customer and resident service skills.
- Experience in a high paced customer service setting an asset
- Flexible and willingness to learn new tasks- Ability to multi-task and adapt to quickly changing priorities
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills
- Effective human relation skills and demonstrated commitment to working with seniors
- Effective communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential.
- Comfortable handing considerable heavy lifting, reaching, squatting, kneeling, crouching and moving equipment, climbing ladders and exposure to biochemical agents and wet floors.
- Ability to speak Cantonese or Mandarin is an asset
