**Job Summary**:
The Financial Analyst coordinates, prepares and analyzes the Library’s financial reports as directed by the Director, Financial Services.

**Responsibilities and Activities**:
Compiles, prepares and analyzes financial reporting, such as:

- Monthly General Ledger (GL) entry, reconciliations and corrections
- Bank reconciliations
- Reserve fund reconciliations
- Month-end, quarterly, and annual reports and documentation
- Month-end, quarterly, and annual forecasts and budgets, including Operational Budgets and Capital Profile reports
- Annual audit working paper schedules, including Asset Continuity Schedules
- Vendor invoices and requisitions, ensuring compliance with Tangible Capital Asset (TCA) policies
- Job Cost analysis schedules
- Reserve Report Balances
- Budget Variance reports
- Other reports as required

Coordinates timely month-end and year-end fund transfers, funding for capital assets, and other required payments

Mitigates risk for the Library through providing recommendations for reducing costs and improving financial reporting, accuracy and integrity in entries and reporting, and ensuring timely payments are made and the receipt of payments are as scheduled

Identifies and investigates account discrepancies and inquiries, and prepares reports and adjustments for management to review

Documents business and operational requirements, such as business process flow and project updates, and works on ad hoc projects as directed

Liaises with all Library departments and external stakeholders on related fiscal matters

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of a university level degree in accounting, economics or business or in another directly related field; or equivalent education and experience
- A minimum of two (2) years directly related professional experience in financial reporting and analysis
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Interest in pursuing a professional accounting designation is considered an asset

- Knowledgeable regarding Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB), related legislation, best practices, and emerging issues in financial reporting and analysis
- Effective presentation skills
