At Merit Kitchens, the Cabinet Maker is responsible for crafting, assembling, and repairing wooden cabinets. The Cabinet Maker will produce quality cabinets to specification by replicating past designs using hand tools and woodworking machines in a manufacturing environment.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Gather materials required for production.
- Select and verify quality wood to meet specifications.
- Use shapes and molders, rulers, measuring tape, and electronic equipment to accurately measure wood for cutting and shaping.
- Mark outlines or dimensions of parts on wood.
- Cut and detail wood for production.
- Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit using glue and clamps and reinforce joints using nails, screws, or other fasteners.
- Assemble components.
- Sand, detail, and finish assembled materials.
- Ensure fittings and other components are of good quality.
- Attach fittings and other components to finished cabinetry.
- Ensure excellent fit, finish, and operability.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment.
- Contribute and participate in the effective use of the Quality Control System.
- Build and install cupboards, bookcases, tack boards, etc.
- Maintain a clean working area free from sawdust and debris between tasks and at the end of the day.
- The Cabinet Maker may perform other duties delegated by management.
- 1+ years of cabinetry experience
- Knowledge of safe operation of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handing procedures.
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Time management skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment with minimum supervision.
- Adaptable.
