**Opportunity**
The Resource Room Youth Worker is a member of the Resource Room team, which is responsible for the support, supervision, and engagement within the Broadway Youth Resource Center drop-in services. The BYRC Resource Room is a low-barrier drop-in service that provides individuals ages 13-24 with food resources, activities, and one-to-one support, as well as connection to partners and programs.
The Youth Worker will work in a youth-centered manner to build relationships, support in identifying goals and strengths of the youth and support in developing robust youth centered programming. This position is one that requires a strong vison of collaborative youth work to support youth connection to community and a sense of belonging. This position requires some facilitation of the Resource Room space as well as connected drop-in program facilitation. Staff require a working knowledge of substance use and mental health, including harm reduction. Knowledge of local resources is required.
**This is an on-call auxiliary position, meaning that work hours would be determined on an as-needed basis, and minimum hours will not be guaranteed.**
**Responsibilities**
- Support Resource Room culture and maintain safer spaces for youth, as well as maintaining health and safety.
- Provide youth with basic needs and relational case management.
- Actively support and encourage participants in a strength based and participant centered framework.
- Support youth, partners, and visitors to connect with the right program within or outside of PCRS.
- Provide case management support with youth, one-to-one and sometimes in a community setting.
- Connect with social workers, youth outreach and other supports for youth.
- Provide harm reduction education and supplies and provide appropriate referrals.
- Be able to assess mental health risk for individuals and provide appropriate interventions and or referral.
**Qualifications**
- B.A. in Social Work, Education, Social Justice, Community Development, or related discipline or a combination of education, life experience and related work experience with at-risk youth under the age of 24, including case management and program development/facilitation. Combination of experience and education is considered.
- Experience creating and working within a culturally inclusive environment for staff, partners, and participants.
- Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector
- Basic First Aid certification with CPR-A

- Mental Health First Aid Certification
- Trauma Informed Practice, suicide intervention training
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or MANDT Training
