Manager Corporate Security

The Manager, Corporate Security, plans, controls, manages, provides advice, oversight, and responds to escalated security incidents and active investigations conducted by the Corporate Security Branch to ensure the security and safety of employees, visitors, equipment and property. Through a contracted security team and support staff (Corporate Security Specialist, and other resources) the Manager is responsible for investigations arising from identified security incidents of threats, abusive behaviour, criminal harassment, violence and theft directed at or impacting the WSIB and staff province-wide, originating from both internal and external sources.
Manage, advise, and deliver Corporate Security Programs including the Threats Protocol, Employee and Contractor Security Screening programs, Threat Risk Assessments, Security Awareness Campaigns, Anonymous Security Desk, Witness Protection Program, disruptive codes, risk management and compliance, security strategies, policies, procedures, employee training, security governance and oversight of 3rd party management of security service providers and other branch initiatives including RFP evaluation and staff safety plans.
Maintains communication linkages and relationships, and provides technical expertise and leadership to team members, WSIB management, internal and external stakeholders.
**Major Responsibilities**:
Plan, manage, control and provide oversight and technical advice to investigations conducted by the Corporate Security Branch, including security incidents including occurrences of workplace violence, harassment, domestic violence, threats, criminal harassment thefts, vandalism by:
- Ensuring alignment of investigation with the guiding principles of the Threats Protocol and Corporate Security Framework.
- Leading a team of Contracted Security Guards and Corporate Security Specialist(s) by providing strategic direction and change management.
- Liaising with and providing expert advice and support to impacted individuals/areas both internal and external.
- Assignment of work, determining and advising the appropriate course of action including involvement of law enforcement agencies, issuance of trespass to property notices, imposition of restrictions and warnings on clients and externals.
- Tracking, analyzing and reporting occurrences to determine trends, make and implement recommendations for successful improvements to the security program.
Plan, develop, implement and maintain security guidelines, procedures, policies, standards and training and ensure they are implemented within the Branch and throughout the organization by:
- Providing technical advice, presentations, staff training, and direction and recommendations to managers, directors, senior management, employees, security staff and others on procedures, policies and standards to keep them and WSIB assets secure.
- Being aware of emerging legislation and changes in security practices to improve security programs and services.
- Monitoring implementation, identifying and address blockers, and providing feedback as required.
- Measuring outcomes and providing expert advice and recommendations on improvements to the Security Strategy.
Plan, manage, control and lead the activities which includes annual planning of projects and priorities, identifying resource requirements, allocating work, recruiting, establishing performance objectives, conducting performance reviews, providing guidance and feedback to staff and contractors and other resources, ensuring successful outcomes for the following Branch initiatives:
- Threats Protocol Investigations and compliance

- Organizational Threat Risk Assessments (TRA) implementation items
- Security Awareness Program
- Witness Protection Program
- Contractor Security Screening
- Employee Security Screening
- Staff Security Training and Development

- RFP Evaluations for above and other Corporate Security Initiatives
Develop and maintains communication linkages and relationships, and provides technical expertise and leadership to stakeholders both internally (Human Resources, Procurement, Facilities, IT Security, Risk, Emergency Management, Regulatory Services, Privacy Office, Legal Dept., Service Delivery, Channels, Appeals, Ethics, etc.) and externally (AWCBC, Fair Practices, police agencies, other ministries, 3rd party contractors, Simcoe Area Security Group, etc.)
