Qc Lab Technician

**Job Requirements**
**Housekeeping**
- General laboratory cleaning and maintenance duties as required.
- Cleaning, maintaining, repairing, and calibration of laboratory testing equipment.
**Data Collection**
- Collect Data (line speed, weight etc) of the profiles during daily production.
- Enter the data in the appropriate system.
- Produce standard reports.
**Inspection & Testing**
- Full knowledge of inspection process.
- Carry out laboratory tests on the extruded profiles as per AAMA requirements and industry standards.
- Communicate any failures during testing to the Quality Inspector and/pr Supervisor.
- Follow up with the remedy to a Failure Test.
- Ensure proper disposal of samples after testing.
- Proper care, handling, and storage of various chemical products used in laboratory testing;
**Operations**
- Assist the Production department by utilizing the research of drawings, samples, gauges, etc
- Assist the Production department with the measurements taken in the Quality Lab (i.e. colour and gloss)
- Interacting with staff in the production floor including lead hand, line operators, QC inspectors etc.
**Skills and Abilities**
- Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
- Ability to lift-up to 50 pounds/23 kilograms.
- Basic computer/data entry skills.
**Occupational Health and Safety**
- Report all incidents, accidents and/or hazards.
- Participate and/or cooperate with the JHSC to improve safety.
- Wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Adhere to Lockout procedures.
- Perform housekeeping activities as required.
- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) particularly the “Duties of Workers” as stated in Section 28.
- Comply with the Workplace Safety Insurance Act (WSI Act).
- Comply with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
- Comply with Health and Safety rules, policies and procedures.
**Employee Relations**
- Communicate with administrative, plant and supervisory staff as required.
- Perform compulsory overtime as necessary and in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
- Provide and/or participate in training as required.
- Comply with company rules, regulations and policies.
**Quality Assurance**
- Report any deficiencies in systems, facilities, machinery, equipment and/or tools immediately to your supervisor.
- Record and/or report product damage/nonconformities to your supervisor as required.
- Comply with Quality Assurance policies and procedures.
- Participate and contribute to effective production efficiency.
**Environmental Health and Safety**
- Adhere to environmental policies and procedures.
- Comply with divisional recycling program.
- Comply with divisional disposal/waste management program.
