The Commodity Taxes Analyst will be reporting into the Manager, Commodity Tax Validation Optimization. The Analyst will be supporting the development, testing and deployment of business & system solutions that relates to value-added commodity taxes (GST, HST, QST, PST, VAT).
This position is temporary
**Reponsabilities**:
- Assist Manager in analyzing current tax procedures and practices in the procurement and AP approval flows, identify potential opportunities, and recommend, design and implement changes to improve tax management and overall efficiency. This can take the form of:
- Control implementation;
- Automation;
- Redesign of process
- Dashboard
- Assist Manager with the configuration, testing and implementation phases of the project, in collaboration with other Finance employees and unifier tax Managers, more specifically as it relates to the following elements, but not limited to:
- Tax collection and tax determination for Air Canada and all subsidiaries, including Customers Master info gathering, testing of Global tax matrix, approval work flow and implementation of controls;
- Global Tax validation on payments for purchases, including but not limited to Supplier Master info gathering, set-up of tax matrix, approval work flow and implementation of controls, gathering of exemption certificate and effective dates;
- Implementation and design of automated internal audits an exception reporting;
- Commodity tax compliance cycle & process including reconciliation of accounts
- Assist Manager in identify commodity tax related risk items during the project, raise the risk to the appropriate stakeholder and propose a plan to mitigate those risks.
- Assist Manager in documenting tax position and process as well as elaborate new procedures, tools and training sessions for the department to disseminate these and offer training during the deployment phase.
- Proactively communicate and work with all tax Manager dedicated to UNIFIER project team regarding financial effects of key transactions, operations and change of process.
**Qualifications**
- Degree in Business or Accounting or Law degree with Tax Master or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. Experience in the transportation industry is an asset
- Experience with integration of third-party income tax provision software; an asset
- Experience in Data Migration and S/4 Hana Testing
- Experience using project management tool such as JIRA;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others;
- Excellent communication skills / oral and written;
- Demonstrated record of initiative and work ethics;
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong analytical skills combined with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple files
