**Manager of Urban Planning**

**Please note**: This is a one year Management Contract Position.

**THE POSITION**

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Responsible for following progress of all Permits projects & files within the Urban Planning Department.
- Prepares reports for council.
- Manages unionized employees.
- Ensure employees are trained in all aspects of their job.
- Ensures all projects completed are in conformity with the City By-laws.
- Tracks and proposes changes to By-laws to meet developing municipal needs.
- Ensures that resident complaints related to the Urban Planning department are properly dealt with and followed up.
- Responsible for communication with residents, organizations, and internal City departments regarding Urban Planning issues.
- Develops and improves customer service on an ongoing basis for residents and internal customers and keeps residents informed on current files.
- Creates, develops and enhances policies and procedures related to the Urban Planning Department.
- Responsible for the Department’s budget tracking.
- Ensures correct content for monthly reports and statistical reporting.
- Manages and oversees projects.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Extensive knowledge of the principles, objectives, strategies and implications of Urban, and Environmental Planning.
- Excellent knowledge of the City and its residents.
- Excellent verbal and written skills in both French and English are a must.
