**The role. **Reporting directly to the Shift Superintendent and working closely with the department superintendent, this position leads the Woodroom and Fibre Handling teams while supporting production targets, product quality, team training, and operational safety.
**Role and Responsibilities**
- Oversee the implementation and foster the organization’s business and cultural strategies.
- Supervise, coordinate, lead, and direct team members to conduct routine field checks on all equipment within their respective area.
- Develop training schedules and ensure that team members’ formal training plans are implemented.
- Track progress through the monthly shift team detail report.
- Collaborate with the Shift and department Superintendent to manage team member performance, as needed.
- Uphold compliance with mill-wide safety directives, documentation, and initiatives.
- Minimize the impact of loss on people, the environment, quality, production, and equipment.
- Provide effective mentoring to operators on tasks, goals, processes, performance, and training standards within department expectations.
- Perform any additional duties as required.
**Qualifications and Experience**
- Significant work experience and technical skills in woodroom operations, manufacturing, or related industries may be considered in lieu of a high school diploma or equivalent. Post-secondary education in a relevant trade or field will be considered an asset.
- Strong leadership and management skills to lead a team of operators and achieve production targets with five or more years of experience in a heavy-duty equipment operator role (sawmill or chipping environment) preferred.
- Proven safety conscious individual who can demonstrate safe work practices with respect to people, equipment, and processes.
- Experience with performance management and conducting performance evaluations is an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary to communicate effectively with the team, other departments, and management.
- Ability to work shift work in a physically demanding environment.
- Capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and a computerized maintenance management system, specifically Avantis.

- Compensation is based on experience, qualifications and competency with a starting hourly rate of** $49.16**, plus a 12.5% Average Regular Premium (ARP). You will also start with **three weeks** (120 hours) of annual vacation, prorated based on your start date.
