**Responsibilities**:

- As a senior scientist, be responsible for work on and guidance of projects, which typically have major complexities and multiple dimensions/facets, may require identification of “outside-of-the-box” solutions, and would benefit from expertise that comes with advanced and deep levels of experience. The VP as senior scientist must be able to synthesize findings into clear, well-written reports that discuss the implications of the findings and advise clients on a wide range of issues related to project advancement and success. The VP will often be responsible for the quality and scientific accuracy of the final deliverable to the client, which may have included own work and that of colleagues/team and will need to meet project and industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.
- Act as the primary liaison with Intertek clients, including initial business development meetings, through preparation of cost estimates for projects, formal project proposals and plans, and communication during the course of projects as and when needed. The VP will have responsibilities related to their own projects as well as that of others - these will encompass both scientific and project management-related aspects of the work (project scope, direction, issue resolution, costs, timing, and deliverables).
- Be a senior consultant, understanding the consultancy business (operations, finance, business development, and structure) and able to identify and capitalize on business development opportunities. Understand and put into practice the high standards of advice, guidance, and project deliverables expected in the provision of consulting services to clients. Attract a flow of work from new and existing clients based on own reputation and expertise in the field. Understand local and global trends related to the business and help plan and support the growth and development of the business accordingly.
- As a senior leader and VP, be an effective and responsible leader of a group or in an area of expertise, who makes effective decisions about work to be done and work standards. Balance, or assist others in balancing, the needs of projects and resolving potential conflicts among competing projects or programs. Be an official spokesperson for Intertek, especially for the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare group and its sub-team focusing on Toxicology, Strategy, & Development. Mentor and develop staff, both scientifically and in their career development, providing regular, on-going feedback to them. Working with the VP of the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare group as a whole, participate in the overall short-term and long-term planning for growth of the business and execute on the plans.

**Desired Qualifications**:

- PhD in Toxicology (preferred) or related field, or MSc or other related degree or training.
- At least 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience specifically in nonclinical aspects of product development programs.
- Subject matter expertise: scientific and regulatory acumen in product development, understanding of the role of regulatory toxicology in supporting clinical programs, ability to solve complex scientific problems, and experience guiding clients through the development program at multiple stages.
- Demonstrated consulting skills: business acumen to identify project needs and encourage additional client work requests; experienced at the preparation of accurate cost and timeline estimates. Operating at a very high level of professional standards and integrity to ensure project parameters and standards are met at all times.
- Excellent communicator and manager of projects and staff, able to practice effective time management, understand organizational and industrial psychology, and able to manage complex projects. Enjoys working within a team including more senior and more junior team members.
- Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written format; able to develop persuasive, clear arguments and rationales.
