The SHARE Society Thrift Store is an inclusive workplace that has been in operation in the community since 1980. Proceeds from the thrift store go towards the delivery of our numerous in-house programs that address the needs of those in economic distress.
- POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES_
- Accepting donations in the receiving bay, deciding the acceptability of items;
- Communicating with donors in a courteous and respectful fashion;
- Educating the public as to how their donations serve their community;
- Processing goods and routing them to the appropriate location within the warehouse and store - hard goods, soft goods, or trash/recycling;
- Sorting goods as to their condition;
- Preparing buggies of hard goods for distribution into the store;
- Hanging and tagging clothes for distribution in the store;
- Delivering buggies or racks to various locations in the store;
- Placing items in their appropriate place, tidying as required;
- Assisting with the loading and unloading of our delivery truck;
- Ensuring that the receiving gate area is kept clean and tidy;
- Covering other departments as needed;
- Working to ensure that items qualifying for recycling are placed in their respective bins and maintaining a high standard for the recycling program;
- Cleaning is required to maintain a sanitary workplace.
- REQUIRED SKILLS :_
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or more regularly throughout the day;
- Work safely in a very busy environment;
- Possess the stamina to work quickly;
- Able to exercise good judgement and to discriminate saleable from unsaleable items ;
- Strong communication skills;
- Able to accept feedback well and work as part of a team;
- Work well independently;
- Accepting of people with diverse abilities and willing to work with them on a regular basis;
- Friendly outgoing personality;
- Some knowledge of thrift store operations would be useful

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 24 per week

Pay: $16.50 per hour
